The runway show of Carolina Herrera for Spring-Summer 2011 is elegant and classy. The collection begins with day pieces and gradually moves on to cocktail dresses and, eventually, to gowns. The latter are particularly spectacular, as you shall see in the pictures.
Some of the looks make a reference to classic Hollywood stars, with the oversized hats and oversized sunglasses, as well as the general silhouette created with over-the-knee pencil skirts and delicate tops. We can also spot an Asian influence, especially in the red, long, satin dresses.
The collection is like a flower garden: all types of flowers are present, discreet or in big prints. We see small bouquets, dandelions, embellished gem flowers and so on.
When not hiding under sunglasses, the eyes of the models are underlined with warm colors, like orange, while their lips are always nude. The shoes are apparently simple, but they bear the touch of the fashion house, with a surprise element at the front.
As mentioned before, the gowns in this collection are amazing: perfect for red carpet events and for our princess dreams! Floor-sweeping, strapless, with big flowers or bows, in bold colors, these dresses are a great ending to a great runway show. Which, by the way, you can watch here.
